Caleta de Vélez is a town in the municipality of Vélez-Málaga, in the province of Málaga, Spain. It is located 35 km from Malaga capital on the N-340 road and situated in the Axarquía region. East of Malaga, on the shores of the Mediterranean, between the towns of Torre del Mar, to the west, and Algarrobo Costa, to the east.

It is a town with a coastal landscape, the urban nucleus is divided by the N-340 road. Its main activity is fishing, the port of La Caleta being the most important fishing port in the province of Malaga, and beach tourism, as evidenced by the existence of numerous urbanizations such as: Baviera Golf, Rivera de Trayamar, Caleta del Sol , Puerto Caleta, Villas del Mediterráneo, etc.

Caleta de Vélez is a town where there are numerous bars and restaurants where you can taste the typical fish of the area. On Saturday mornings there is always a market in the street parallel to Avda de Andalucía. It also has several hotels with excellent services as well as a wide range of local shops and supermarket Aldi where you can get everything you need. In Algarrobo only 2 kms further you find a large Mercadona and Lidl. Torre del Mar offers a large selection of shops and a big shopping mall: el Elgenio.

One of the most popular activities in the area is fishing, since it is a coastal area. Formerly about 90% of the people lived on it and it is one of the reasons that many tourists choose it as a destination every summer, being able to taste the good fresh fish of the area and on the beach.
